Hand Texture or Skiptrowel Drywall Texture

Skiptrowel texture is very often used to refer to various hand drywall textures, in order to apply the skiptrowel, the mud has to be pliable so you can easily spread it across the wall using a special curved knife that will put in a very thin layer of mud, when you are applying the drywall the positioning of the knife will cause the mud to skip across the wall surface, creating the desired texture.
